How Can severe A Dermoid Cyst On The Left Ovary Be Treated?

I am a Filipino woman, 43 yr old, married with 2 children, my height is 4 11 and my weight is 45 kg. . I have gone three vaginal ultrasound last Sept, Oct. and December 2016, and it was found out in my ultrasound that I have a dermoid cyst on my left ovary and it has been observed that my cyst did not grow after the second and third ultrasound. My question is : Do I need to undergo surgery on my dermoid cyst on my left ovary since my latest transviginal ultrasound result done last March 4, 2017 showed that there is no increase in size? I have not yet experience my menstrual period last February until now.I have not yet consulted my obgyne for my latest ultrasound.Thank you.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

If the size is small and you are asymptomatic, no definite treatment is required.

In case of symptoms like pain or menstrual disturbances, surgical removal is the treatment of choice.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
